First Portal of Agriculture

web design

Inspiration and strategy

Good design is not a collection of random elements. Its base is a good team, research, strategy and a solid dose of inspiration, which together lead to unusual results. Such a holistic approach reflects our new project for ppr.pl (First Portal of Agriculture).

We start with deep research, and collected data that provide us with important things. A significant proportion of farmers has little in common with the prevailing stereotype. This group, which checks daily trading exchange, need a very accurate weather forecast with accuracy to hours, and access to information on mobile devices.

IA map

Creating information architecture, we started from drawing schemes for very complexity structure of site. From the basic elements associated with a strictly informative role, throught the user panel, exchange rates widgets, are of interest and information from car marketplaces.

Wireframes

Thanks to notebook and a widescreen monitor, display area has become wider. The aim of the portal is distribution of content that users need to read easily because of it we split it into 3 legible columns.

Take an advantages from having more and larger (wider) resolution, we decided to move the whole navigation on the sides to allocate for your convenience almost 100% of the website for reading. The first column is static and displays the navigation between different parts of the site - section of the information, forum, marketplace, etc.. In the main, middle, sector is the most important element of the portal - content. Last, right column - the static one - is a place ready for widgets.

Responsive grid & widgets

RWD

The design of the entire site was based on the grid. We determined the width of one column and on its basis we have built a grid that allows us to build a portal arranging it almost like the bricks that we can translate and exchange freely.

This solution has another one big advantage - it allows you to easily scale both up and down, so the service is fully responsive.

Widgets

All widgets were created as a response to the needs of farmers. For example one of them indicates the weather at the time with accuracy to hours. Why? Farmer need it to know when he should fertilize the field, so that no fertilizer was leached by rain. Many farmers also regularly checks the prices of grain on exchanges market or exchange rates and widget are facilitating these activities.
